ID. Buzz 7-Seat named ‘Best 7-Seater Electric Vehicle’ at What Car? Electric Car of the Year Awards 2025

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles’ all-electric ID. Buzz 7-Seat has been crowned ‘Best 7-Seater Electric Vehicle’ at the What Car? Electric Car of the Year Awards 2025.

The prestigious awards are a celebration of the leading electric vehicles across a range of categories, with an experienced panel of writers and editors judging on performance and practicality, among other criteria.

The 7-seater electric vehicle category focuses, in particular, on value and practicality for families and groups.

At close to five metres long, the ID. Buzz 7-Seat was praised for its spaciousness and practicality. Thanks to the longer wheelbase, it benefits from a total of 2,469 litres of storage capacity, providing plenty of room for up to seven people as well as ample space for luggage or bikes, and a six-seat configuration also available for further flexibility.

Despite the added length, the ID. Buzz 7-Seat’s car-like maneuvrability offers a comfortable ride for any family adventure, with a large 86kWh battery that delivers an all-electric range of up to 487km. And this excellent performance doesn’t come with a sacrifice on style. The retro-inspired design continues a long tradition of Volkswagen supporting a sense of adventure.

Commenting on the award, Steve Huntingford, What Car? Editor, said: “Usually you have to choose between style and substance, but the ID. Buzz delivers both in spades. Yes, it's achingly desirable, thanks to its retro design, but its beauty is far more than skin deep. It's one of the most spacious and practical cars on sale – one with loads of room in each of its seven seats. Plus, it's a very comfortable car and the driving position is superb.”

Eve Tyers, Head of Marketing at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, added: “We’re delighted that our ID. Buzz 7-Seat continues to be recognised for its practicality and versatility as an exciting family vehicle. We’ve been really pleased with the response since its launch, and are delighted to continue the year in this vein.”

Breeze Motor Company Ltd, Breeze (Southampton) Ltd and Breeze Motorcycles Limited is an Appointed Representative of Automotive Compliance Ltd who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No. 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Breeze Motor Company Ltd, Breeze (Southampton) Ltd and Breeze Motorcycles Limited to act as a credit broker, not a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders, and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a lender on our panel, which includes lenders of vehicle manufacturers. We have commercial arrangements with lenders and credit brokers which are likely to influence who we introduce you to. We are not an independent financial adviser and don’t give you any advice or recommendations. It is your choice whether you enter into any finance agreement.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked to the franchise offering you the vehicle. They will usually offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions (but we do not guarantee they do). If they are unable to offer finance, we then seek to introduce you to someone else on our panel. We will usually receive a commission for your introduction. This will be either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you choose.

Lenders of vehicle manufacturers may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will tell you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receiving this commission. The exact amount of commission will be confirmed before you sign your finance agreement.

All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18s or over. Guarantees may be required.
