New Touareg named Parkers’ Best Tow Car 2019

03 October 2018

The new Volkswagen Touareg has loaded up with two of the biggest tow car awards in the business. Having only joined the brand’s UK range in June Volkswagen’s new, third-generation premium SUV has already secured the Parkers Best Tow Car 2019 title while also being named best in its class in the 2018 Caravan and Motorhome Club Towcar of the Year Awards.

While previous generations of Touareg have proved popular with drivers looking to tow a wide variety of loads – from caravans to horseboxes – the new version raises standards still further thanks to innovative safety and convenience systems and exceptional drivability. For the motoring review website www.parkers.co.uk, Touareg’s combination of brain and brawn put it head and shoulders above its rivals.

The judging panel praised the newcomer’s exceptional levels of comfort and user-friendly towing features. Commenting on the Touareg’s victory, Parkers’ Editor Keith Adams said: “The Touareg wins out because it offers an impressive amount of tech for the money, including some very clever towing-assist systems. With its 3.5-tonne towing capacity, it’s the perfect family car for those who need to pull hefty loads with ease.”

Parkers judges also highlighted Touareg’s design and engineering, adding: “As a road car it’s luxurious beyond its price, while its interior and Innovision Cockpit system are easy to use.”

Parkers weren’t the only ones to be wowed by the luxurious new Touareg’s hauling ability. Having put it through a gruelling series of tests, the Caravan and Motorhome Club announced the Touareg as the car to choose for caravans over 1,700kg. The organisation, which represents the interests of more than one million caravan, motorhome, and trailer tent owners across the UK, named the new Touareg R-Line Tech 3.0 V6 TDI SCR 4MOTION 286 PS Tiptronic as its model of choice.

Summing up the appeal of the new Touareg, the judging panel said: “The fantastic 3.0-liter V6 engine is quiet and refined with great pulling power while the eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox never became flustered. Nicely weighted steering and a smooth, comfortable ride – coupled with great interior design – this is a brilliant tow car.”

One of the many reasons why the new Touareg makes the perfect tow car is the availability of Volkswagen’s acclaimed Trailer Assist technology. This system – which can be specified as an option – allows the driver to forget the counter-intuitive skills traditionally associated with reversing a trailer.

Trailer Assist works in harmony with other Volkswagen systems including Park Assist and Rear View to provide an easy and intuitive feature that makes light work of difficult maneuvers. When activated, the rotary switch of the electric window adjustment knob acts as a multi-function joystick with which the articulation angle of the trailer can be determined.

The new Touareg range is available to order from Breeze Volkswagen and, until 11th November, you can also benefit from 24-hour test drives across the Volkswagen SUV range* - call 01202 713000 to book.

Breeze Motor Company Ltd, Breeze (Southampton) Ltd and Breeze Motorcycles Limited are Appointed Representatives of Automotive Compliance Ltd, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd’s permissions as a Principal Firm allows Breeze Motor Company Ltd, Breeze (Southampton) Ltd and Breeze Motorcycles Limited to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of finance providers and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time.
