New images released of the next generation Amarok!
Images of the new generation Amarok pick-up have been released by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, showcasing its innovative and powerful design – even if it is still behind camouflage for now!
The classic all-rounder has an upgraded spec, expanded array of driver-assist features and larger range of drive systems, with more on and off-road driving capability.
There will be five trim versions: the entry-level ‘Amarok’, followed by the ‘Life’ and ‘Style’. The ‘PanAmericana’ (off-road character) and the ‘Aventura’ (on-road character) will be offered as equal top models.
There is more room in the double cab thanks to an additional 100mm in length compared to its predecessor, and a further 175mm on the wheelbase. As the wheelbase increases more than its total length the bodywork overhangs are smaller, leading to a positive effect on the off-road capability, along with a significantly greater fording depth for driving through waters compared to the latest model.
The payload is also increasing to up to 1.2 tonnes and a maximum towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes is now possible across more engine/gearbox variants.
As in the previous model, the new Amarok has sufficient space on the cargo bed between the wheel arches for a euro pallet to be loaded in sideways.
Terrain tyres are available for the first time as standard and add to the powerful look.
Dependent on engine/gearbox variant and market, the engines available will be one petrol and up to four different diesels with four to six cylinders and cubic capacity of 2.0 to 3.0 litres – optionally with rear-wheel drive, or on-demand or permanent all-wheel drive.
The Amarok’s interior has a functional, high-quality appearance with its intuitive controls, digital cockpit and tablet-style infotainment display. A great array of preconfigured driving modes offers multiple assistance levels for the driver, with over 20 driver assist systems completely new to the model.
All passengers can enjoy customary Volkswagen comfort: drivers and front-seat passengers have comfortable, wide seats, which can optionally be configured with electric, 10-way adjustment while the rear also offers plenty of space for three adult passengers.
