The R specification brings 320ps and 420Nm of torque to the Arteon, taking the vehicle from 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds.
The striking high-performance fastback and Shooting Brake models are priced by £51,615 and £52,435 OTR respectively, both powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine and feature the latest 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
The models also feature the R-Performance torque vectoring system, first seen on the new Golf 8 R, works to share power between both the front & rear axles and between each rear wheel too. Up to 50% of the Arteon R's drive force can be sent to the rear axle, and this power can be directed entirely to the outside rear wheel when cornering to eliminate understeer.
The R DNA of the high performance Arteon R and Arteon Shooting Brake R is hinted at by a set of 19-inch 'Adelaide' alloy wheels, sitting over an 18-inch braking system with blue brake calliper and sporty body styling. The sporting luxury continues to the interior - premium sports sets, Nappa leather, 14-way electric adjustment and a massage function. Heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel with touch sensitive buttons and a R button for quick access to car modes finishes off the sporty character of the new model.
